Avery & Bowen have been building a great relationship these days. It's SO nice to have a family dog that we completely trust with Avery. He's always so gentle with her, whether it's getting a treat from her or she's taunting him with HIS favorite toy or she's accessorizing him! They play fetch together. At night, she HAS to always give Bowen a kiss and hug "night night" and he HAS to be in her room while we read her bedtime stories. She also already has a chore that she helps out with every night... She helps feed Bowen dinner. Every night, we'll ask her if Bowen needs dinner and she'll say "yesh!!" and run to the door. We have an established routine so I don't have to tell her what to do at all! I open the door, she runs outside and grabs his bowl and then carries it into the house where Bowen's food is kept. I'll fill the bowl and then she'll open the back door for us so we can put the bowl back outside. She closes the door afterwards and always gets a high five for a job well done! We tried once (and only once) to let her carry the filled bowl back outside but that ended up quite disastorous with dog food everywhere! LOL She really looks forward to her chore every night and will sometimes remind us when it's time!! We like that we're instilling good pet ownership in her. It's never too early to learn how to take care of her animals! All we really have to worry about is his tail. Sometimes she'll laugh at getting hit in the face with his tail and other times, she'll cry like it's the worse thing that's ever happened to her. It all just depends on her mood at the time. She's giving him treats in the video below... You'll hear her say "teet" (treat) and she tries to count... sometimes better than other times. In this video, she counts "one... tree"! LOL She's gotten generally really good at counting. On a good day, she'll get to 6 all by herself! We've just been focusing on 1,2,3 but she'll then say "fo, pie, seeeks"! :)
It's a trade off... Bowen has to wear pink toddler shoes BUT he gets a nice hug from Avery too!
