I can't believe that it's been over a month since I last created a post! Time is flying and we're all staying VERY busy! As every day passes, we're getting more and more settled into Austin! The weather is finally cooling down! We're enjoying the 70 degree days and trying to take advantage of the outdoors as much as we can before it starts to get cold! We've had a lot of visitors come including my mom, and my two sisters, Jenn & Sarah. We've all thoroughly enjoyed these visits and look forward to Andrew's parents coming for Thanksgiving! Andrew's parents will be returning along with Andrew's brother, Matt, over the Christmas holidays! Matt is coming to visit us all the way from Sweden! We've also joined a playgroup in Austin with other moms and toddlers! We've been to a few play dates and are meeting a lot of new friends for all of us! It's just what we've needed!
Andrew has started traveling with work and he seems to be enjoying it. It was a small adjustment to get used to him being gone again but nothing can compare to his previous deployment so we're not complaining!! He's in the country and we can call him whenever we want! You can't beat that! He went on a 2 week mission at the end of October and is gone on another mission this week. He might be gone for another week in December. He'll be home for Thanksgiving and Christmas though!!
Avery is going through a little bit of a 2.5 year old "rough patch" these days... She's constantly testing the limits and LOVES to throw a good temper tantrum! We're working through it and are hoping that it's a very short phase! ;) Although it's rough phase for her, she is also having a lot of fun in school! She goes two morning a week and it's been the best thing for her!!!! My refrigerator is covered in craft projects and she's always talking about her best friends at school, Ava, Nolan & Brady! (Andrew might have to be getting that shotgun sooner than he anticipated...) Avery's class has learned about a wide variety of subjects including: Fall, Gardening (they have their own little class garden), Fire Safety, Things That Go (ie: cars, trucks, trains, etc), and Being Thankful! Thankfully, Avery's teacher, Mrs. Val, sends us weekly agendas so I can keep up on all that she is learning!! Mrs. Val is so hands on and wonderful with the kids and Avery looks forward to school days. The preschool exceeds all of my expectations!
Sydney is now 6 months old and growing up WAY too fast! She is a very healthy, easy going and happy baby. She LOVES her big sister and is always bright eyed and smiling at everyone! She had her 6 month well baby appointment today and is doing great! (Well, maybe except for the 5 shots that she got this morning! Poor baby!) The shots NEVER get easier... But it's for the best! Sydney is now 26 inches (50-75%), 16lbs 9oz (50-70%) and her head is in the 50-75%. She has started solid foods too! Her favorite is squash but she also seems to enjoy green beans, carrots, sweet potatoes and fruits! She is a master at rolling over onto her tummy and can sit up on her own but she does need a little assistance still!
So overall, we're keeping busy and doing quite well! More updates soon!
